Location

From Rt 1 in Princeton:

• » Proceed east ( toward Princeton Junction ) on Alexander Rd less than 1/2 mile to 707 Alexander Road ( on left ).
  NOTE: If you pass Roszel Rd ( on right ) then you have gone too far.
• » Follow driveway (at Alexander Court sign) to parking area behind buildings (bearing right) to 2nd building on right (on corner).
• » Entrance door (201 - 208) on left at rear of building (next to office of Philadelphia Childrens Hospital).
• » Suite 208 located at end of hallway on right.

Parking

There is ample free parking in the back of the building(s).

* Although we encourage students to arrive at the beginning of the hour - the student may start class at the time that they arrive and still get the benefit of the full time duration of the class they have signed up for.

Teaching overview

Classes are conducted in a supportive environment and our small class sizes insure that each child will have plenty of individual instruction time. Children are encouraged to finish each work that they have begun - this develops the habit of self-discipline and instills a sense of accomplishment with each project. The course of instruction typically covers the following elements:

Size, form and proprtion - from larger shapes to smaller shapes / detail Line and shape - there will be fun exercises to practice lines / shapes to develop technique Color - children progress from the use of primary colors to complementary colors and are introduced to color theory (i.e. - children will make a color wheel) the influence of light, shade, shadow, perspective and distance Technique - children are exposed, hands-on, to the different methods and styles that have been used successfully by fine and commercial artists.

Supplies

• » In addition to the supplies shown above, a pre-cut ( primed and ready-to-paint ) artist's canvas is available from art & craft/art supply dealers and larger stationery stores.

• » Sculpey brand is a soft, colored modelling clay - See samples from our student gallery that is easy and fun to use - ideal for younger students.

• » For older sculpture students non-sulpher Plasteline ( a non-waterbase clay available in soft, medium and hard consistencies ) is recommended. Additionally a set of wooden modelling tools ( usually includes a wire tool with wooden handle ) is needed.

• » For Oil Painting a Low-odor or odorless Mineral Spirits is recommended ( "low-odor" Turpentine products emit a very prevalent odor ).

• » Ms. Lu's art instruction book for children will be available soon!

Tuition & Fees ( Family discounts available! )

1. Pay in advance for a 10% discount off listed price:
   1. 1½ hour class - $300 for 15 classes (Regular Price $330)
   2. 1 hour class - $225 for 15 classes (Regular Price $255)

2. Pay as you go:
   1. $17 per 1 hour class
   2. $22 per 1½ hour class
   3. $27 per 2 hour class ( Best Deal! )

3. Outside Group Lessons ( Arrange neighborhood class at your location ):
   1. 1 hour class - $20 per student
   2. 1½ hour class - $25 per student

4. Individual instruction and private tutoring:
   1. $50 per 1 hour class
   2. $60 per 1½ hour class
